Manfred Oberdorfer, manager of the (prop room) Fundus administration at the Graz opera house, already looked in the 90's for a modern solution better oversee the (prop room) Fundus . He found the correct partner in Dr. Georg Fritsch, who is today, the managing directors of FRT.
Together they developed costume administrative software, with whose assistance meanwhile approx. 120,000 costume data records are administered. Existing data was migrated. By means of bar code readers and sewn in labels the costumes were then reentered into the system and could then be selected for rental business or sale. Each costume can also be found by photos. The original solution was exclusively for the administration of costumes.
Meanwhile there are however several versions, with which also theatrical property, scenes, Spotlight and lamps, scripts, sheet music and performance archives can be administered. At the theatre in Graz all performances played since 1900, which are hundredthousands of data records, are administered in the performance archives.
The system used by the opera house in Graz offers a wide range of additional features, such as: rental to other performing organisations, private rental with receipts for issuance and return, rental business accounting and reminders, a sales module as well as an analysis system, which make all important information available from the calculation journal to the drawing up the inventory in real time on-line. This data can be uploaded and/or printed also to Word or Excel.
Since each Fundus (Prop Room) has its own structure and consists of several stock piles, particularly importance is paid to retaining the existing the Fundus (Prop Room) structure, whilst accelerating work steps and making resources more transparent. Additionally international costume designers can inform themselves about the stored costumes.
Even if evaluations are only a by-product of this programme, they nevertheless show the complex data acquisition and the possibilities which are connected with it. All of this is the result of a development, which took place parallel to the work routine. The tasks, resulting directly from daily stage-business, were converted and whenever necessary corrected. And that is the strength of PROFundus, which was particularly appreciated by the Graz opera house. The work routine need not be adapted and changed, but historically grown organizational stipulations that influence the program.
